Robert De Niro has had a prolific career in motion pictures, staring in such films as Michael Cimino’s "The Deer Hunter" (1978), Penny Marshall’s "Awakenings" (1990), Michael Mann’s "Heat" (1995), and the "Meet the Parents" series. He has paired with director Martin Scorsese on eight films including, "Mean Streets" (1973), "Taxi Driver" (1976), "Raging Bull" (1980), "Goodfellas" (1990) and "Cape Fear" (1991). In 1993 he directed his first film, "A Bronx Tale"; later he returned to directing for "The Good Shepherd" in 2006. He has won Oscars for "The Godfather: Part II" (1974) and for his portrayal of Jake La Motta in "Raging Bull" (1980). In the late 1980’s he co-founded Tribeca Productions and in 2002, as a response to 9/11, he co-founded the Tribeca Film Festival. The festival has become an annual celebration of film, music and culture that has helped bring life back to Lower Manhattan. Honored with the prestigious Kennedy Center Honors in 2009, he also received BAFTA’s Stanley Kubrick Award the same year. In 2011 HFPA honored him with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for his lifetime achievements in film. Recently, he has acted in the Italian language film, Manuale d’amore 3 (2011) and Neil Burger’s Limitless (2011).
Olivier Assayas is the author of some fifteen films. After his studies in art and literature, he made short films and collaborated on a number of scripts, in particular for André Téchiné with "Rendez-Vous" and "The Scene of the Crime" ("Le Lieu du crime"). He also wrote for the Cahiers du Cinéma (1980-85) and is the author of a book of interviews with Ingmar Bergman. His first film, "Disorder" ("Désordre"), which won an award at the festival in Venice (1986), established him as one of the most significant filmmakers of his generation. His fame was enhanced with "Cold Water" ("L’Eau froide") (1994) and "Irma Vep" (1996), presented in Cannes. He is in Competition at the Festival de Cannes with "Sentimental Destinies" ("Les Destinées sentimentales"), "Demonlover" and "Clean", for which Maggie Cheung won a prize for Best Actress. The success of his two most recent films, "Summer Hours" ("L’Heure d’été") and "Carlos", which won numerous international awards, make him one of the most famous French filmmakers
Martina Gusman was born in Buenos Aires, she study Arts in -UBA- Buenos Aires University; Performance at the traditional Labarden Institute and later with the theater master Carlos Gandolfo. In 2002, she co-founded MATANZA CINE developing a prolific career as Producer in feature films and documentaries wellknown in the major festivals. Over the past decade, she earn producing credits on Pablo Trapero´s films "El Bonaerense", "Rolling Family" at Venice Film Festival and Albertina Carri’s "Gemini" and "La rabia" participating in Cannes and Berlin Film Festivals; plus others independent argentinians films she produce before taking her first role in "Born and Bred." Being the leading actress of "Lions den" and "Carancho" directed by Pablo Trapero she was in Competition (2008) and Un Certain Regard (2010), at The Festival de Cannes.
Mahamat-Saleh Haroun was born in Chad. His work was brought to the fore at the 1999 Venice Film Festival, where his first feature film "Bye-Bye Africa" was awarded the prize for the Best Debut Film. His second film, "Our Father", was selected at the Directors’ Fortnight in 2002. Four years later, he was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival for "Dry Season", while the MoMa (Museum of Modern Art) in New York devoted a retrospective exhibition to his work. In 2010, his fourth feature film, "A Screaming Man", received the Jury Prize in Cannes. That same year, he also received the prestigious Robert Bresson Award at the Venice Film Festival, as well as the Humanity Prize at the 34th Mostra in São Paolo, Brazil.
Jude Law first came to international attention in Anthony Minghella’s "The Talented Mr Ripley" for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. He received Academy Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations for his role in Minghella’s "Cold Mountain". Other film credits include "Closer", "Alfie", "The Aviator", "Artificial Intelligence: AI", "eXistenZ", "My Blueberry Nights", "Sleuth" which he also co-produced, "Repo Men", "Sherlock Holmes" and the forthcoming "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows". He has also recently completed supporting roles in Steven Soderbergh’s "Contagion", Martin Scorsese’s "Hugo Cabret" and Fernando Mereilles’ "360". In 2009 he took on Hamlet in the West End and later on Broadway and was nominated for a Tony Award. He will return to the London stage in 2011 in "Anna Christie" at the Donmar Warehouse.
Nansun Shi is a veteran Producer of Chinese-language films. She was born in Hong Kong and went to school in the UK. Her film career began when she joined the legendary mini-major studio, Cinema City, in 1981. In 1984, Nansun and her internationally-renowned Producer/Director husband, Tsui Hark, founded their own production company, Film Workshop Co. Ltd., which has produced many successes including the "Once Upon a Time in China" series, "Peking Opera Blues", "Black Mask 1 and 2", "The Legend of Zu" and "Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame". Nansun has also worked at different media companies and she was the Executive Producer on the hit, "Infernal Affairs", since remade by Martin Scorcese and retitled "The Departed". Nansun is a Member of the Hong Kong Government’s Film Development Council
Uma Thurman was born in Boston; she was fifteen when discovered by two New York agents and she transferred to the Professional Children’s School in New York City in order to pursue an acting career. Thurman’s entrance into mainstream film really began after her role in Terry Gilliam’s fantasy "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" and in Stephen Frears’s "Dangerous Liaisons". In 1996, Thurman received an Academy Award nomination for Quentin Tarantino’s "Pulp Fiction". Uma’s other works include "Mad Dog and Glory" opposite to Robert De Niro, Gus Van Sant’s "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues", "Batman & Robin", "Gattaca", Woody Allen’s "Sweet And Lowdown" and John Woo’s thriller "Paycheck". She stars in Quentin Tarantino’s installments "Kill Bill", both of which she was nominated for a Golden Globe. She recently wrapped production on "Bel Ami" opposite Robert Pattinson; she is currently filming "Playing The Field".

Linn Ullmann is an award-winning writer, journalist and columnist, born in Norway and a graduate of New York University. She has written four critically acclaimed novels, published throughout Europe and the USA: Before your Sleep (1998), Stella Descending (2001), Grace (2002) and A Blessed Child (2005) "A Blessed Child" was shortlisted for the Norwegian literary prize Brageprisen, named best translated novel in the British newspaper The Independent, and longlisted for the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize and the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award in the UK. The novel "Grace" was adapted for the stage in 2007 and had a successful run at the Norwegian national theatre Riksteateret. Linn Ullmann is co-founder (2009) and former Artistic Director of the international artist residency foundation The Bergman Estate on Fårö.
